Who We Are

Tony Powe, Managing Director
Prior to co-founding TPW, Mr. Powe worked with Opportunity Capital Partners, a $140 million private equity firm, where he evaluated and managed equity and mezzanine debt investments in a number of private companies that have collectively raised over $400 million from various financing sources. Before working with Opportunity Capital Partners, Mr. Powe worked with Merrill Lynch in its Structured Financial Products Group and with Exxon as a Territory Manager serving the general manufacturing, chemical and power generation industries. Mr. Powe holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Paul Washington, Managing Director
In 2001, Mr. Washington founded LJS Holdings, a middle market investment bank that specializes in mergers and acquisitions. Prior to founding LJS Holdings, Mr. Washington was a corporate attorney with the law firm of Hogan & Hartson. While at Hogan & Hartson, Mr. Washington advised large and middle market companies on all aspects of mergers, acquisitions and capital raising projects. Throughout his career, Mr. Washington has closed over 40 transactions with an aggregate valuation exceeding $500 million. Mr. Washington holds a JD and a B.S. in business administration, both from the University of California at Berkeley.

James Norton, Director
Prior to joining TPW Investments, Mr. Norton was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Argon Industries, an industrial plastics manufacturing company he acquired in 1988. Under his leadership, Mr. Norton led the company through a 500% increase in net profits and other significant operating improvements. Before acquiring Argon Industries, Mr. Norton was a General Partner at UNC Ventures, which invested in companies in different sectors including technology, manufacturing, distribution and turnarounds. During his time at UNC Ventures, Mr. Norton made investments and held board of director positions in 20 companies leading to more than 50 financial transactions involving total capital in excess of $250 million. Before Mr. Norton joined UNC Ventures, he worked with Morgan Stanley as an investment banker in its Corporate Finance Department. Mr. Norton holds a BA in Economics from Boston University and a MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
